Originally, bad gin was sweetened to make it drinkable. This time we have done things differently and made a fine gin even better by adding Canadian maple syrup. The first Old Tom gin in the world to be sweetened with maple syrup.

The idea was born during the distillation of Gentleman's Gin, when the kettle was fired with wood. Wood is a renewable resource that we humans can extract from nature for almost nothing. Lumberjacks were the lumberjacks of northern America before their work with trunksaws and axes was industrialized by chainsaws.

However, the forest not only provides firewood, but much more. It is a habitat for wildlife, regulates our climate and provides us gin producers with many botanicals. Humans have been making use of the forest for a long time, and without its diversity of resources, the development of our society would hardly have been possible. The progress of society has been at the expense of the forest, which has been cleared due to the immense demand for wood. The manufacture of steel and the construction of railroads consumed vast quantities of wood as fuel. A large part of the forest also fell victim to arable land. As a result of this excessive use, there are hardly any untouched forest areas left in Central Europe.

But enough of the gloom... Our Lumberjack's Gin lives from the forest and should inspire you to keep your eyes open on your next walk in nature and perhaps do something good. For example, collecting plastic or teaching your children, grandchildren, nephews, nieces or simply the next generation about the value of our nature.
